I’ve been following Julie’s lead at Little Cotton Rabbits with a year in pictures post since 2011. It’s a lovely way to start the blogging year and an opportunity to wish you all the very best for the year to come. It would be easy to let it slide this year having seen 2018 marked by such sadness with the death of my lovely Mum in August. I also have a distinct lack of photos in my August to December folders but finally managed to find some on my phone. I’m determined to look ahead to 2019 with the positivity and courage my Mum showed throughout her life and particularly in the years she lived so bravely with cancer. She would have been the first to say ”come on, no point moping about, let’s go and do something, you’re bound to feel better” if I were to sit here feeling sorry for myself. It feels so sad to be moving forward into a year in which there is nothing to connect her with us. We’ll experience all the first birthdays and anniversaries without her. We will always carry her with us in our hearts, our thoughts and the stories we share and remember her with big smiles. It’s what she would have wanted.
L to R : January – Mum’s 70th birthday, February – photography training, March – snow for the third time this year , April – Luca’s 2nd birthday, May – wild garlic foraging in Cranham Woods, June – 30 days wild challenge, July – gardening with kids, August – losing Mum and parenting through grief, Sept – funeral flowers, October – happy memories turned into art by a friend, November – a break away at the Manor House sports and crafts hotel, December – remembering Mum and meeting Santa at the Maggies Centre Christmas party.
