When you have a winter-born baby you should expect that snow could be on the cards for his big day. When you’re busy baking and don’t notice the weather changing outside you should then expect to end up with 3 times as many cakes as you need when party guests can’t get through the snow to reach you! Hey ho, the savoury muffins made last week remained in the freezer and we resigned ourself to eating cake fresh from the oven, before and after E’s first sledging adventure and with every cup of tea since Friday (such hardship!) We had a brilliant day and shall enjoy eeking out E’s first birthday celebrations as we catch up with absent party guests over the next couple of weeks.

Oh no, your first BD party got snowed out? Aww, but think of the fun story that will make some day. Happy Birthday, handsome! ps. Tell mom her cake is smashing!
Steve and I both comiserate with your winter born baby…he was born in winter (January) and I was born in winter (August)…eh?! Yup…continents apart! Your baby is gorgeous and that cat will not be safe soon ;).
The snow has arrived with a vengence hasn’t it? Keep warm. Lovely birthday pics. xx
Miss M – lovely to hear from you :o) he had a terrific time sledging (definitely a boy not a baby now!) and the cake’s were lush (shall be posting at some point I’m sure!)
Narf – thanks, he’s a proper little character and the cat is not safe now – or E who suffers miaows and scratches but still comes back for more with a big smile on his face. Poppet is the least child-friendly of the 3 cats yet she is the one he loves most, he even calls her by name ”Doddo” :o) (not bad in a vocabulary of about 6 words!)
Denise – sleet melted much of our snow today but further now it’s still falling with a vengence. It made for quite a magical first birthday so no complaints here
