”I don’t have any pictures of me with a bump at the allotment so if I go down by the shed can you can take one?” I asked Mum.
”But you’ll just be a speck if I take it from here” she replied.
”Exactly! I don’t want to be able to see me just my big bump!”
…well she snapped a cheeky one as I walked back towards her…
… then I joked about at least looking like I was doing something
(oh look, here’s me picking sprouting)…
… which proved to be so tricky bending over my big bump that I could hardly straighten up for laughing so much!
So there you have it.
Proof of my ineptitude as a gardener this year but happy none-the-less.
Nip it in the bud

hurrah for your big bump! was loking forward to seeing a pic of you. isn’t it just amazing how your body changes, and then changes back! allotment looks great by the way, you timed it all perfectly! i wont even take a photo of ours, we haven’t been for a month… yikes. x

Catherine – we have been really fortunate to have such a mild Oct/Nov. Perhaps I may yet venture to the allotment again if only to sit and breathe in the fresh air and sunshine

Anna – it had to happen eventually. I do love being bumpsome just not such a fan of having photos taken.
Chocolette – which reminds me … more of that sprouting will come through in the next month so perhaps a cheeky visit will be in order.
Johanna – that’s what I realised in the end, the pictures are part of the baby’s life story so it’s as much about capturing the changes for him/her than for anyone else. I’m really glad I did post this now as my laptop has died and I’m waiting anxiously to see if G can resurrect it (if not everything will be lost including all my photos of the baby/pregnancy/allotment this year)

Sorry to hear your laptop has died, fingers crossed G can get it working again. Otherwise, perhaps it would be worth taking to someone ‘knowledgeable’. Unlikely your files have been lost, probably the FAT is corrupted (file allocation table) which means the disc can’t “see” them. This is salvageable but don’t go to PC World or the like, find a small, local firm who know what they are doing. If all else fails, we have one nearby (in Workington)
thanks Bilbo. G’s hopeful the hard drive is ok and that he’ll be able to retrieve everything (it won’t boot up to even try and read anything). We have an old Mac we can transfer it to once he gets his start up discs back from a friend. I probably have a lot of unneccessary tat on my computer but there are some photos and videos that are irreplaceable and I would be upset to lose.
At least not having a computer is giving me more time to work through my long list of books to read and things to do before the baby arrives!

Which sadly is a horrible way to be firmly reminded of the importance of backups.

Bilbo – you’re right of course! Baby is due in a little over 5 weeks (6th Jan). Saw the midwife today and she’s very happy with progress and we’re very proud of little bean who’s behaving so beautifully (head down and ready to go)
