Or should I say, making sure they don’t ever grow that big again!
This year I chose to sow just 6 courgette seeds which produced 4 plants – plenty for just the two of us. They fruited early and we’ve picked them regularly so that we haven’t had any monster marrows to deal with. It’s good to know we have a ‘make marrow cream’ back up plan for when torrential downpours and breaks away coincide. But we’d really rather eat savoury courgettes than turn them into a sweet preserve and not going away in July or August has surely helped manage what ends up on our plate.
