This A-Z challenge is proving to be rather thought provoking and I’ve had a bit of an inner tussle with today’s word. It’s easy to hide behind a blog persona (gardener, chutney maker, cat lover for example) and only reveal small aspects of myself through the stories I share, the things that inspire me and interactions with others that warm my heart. It’s not so easy to declare ‘I am …’.
Being kind is fundamental part of who I am and I value kindness highly in other people. Just saying that makes me blush but I’m a big girl now so it’s time I felt comfortable with wearing ‘I am kind hearted’ on my sleeve. Kindness as action makes so much sense to me but I falter when it comes to theorising it in words.
Fortunately people much wiser than me have given it a lot of thought …
People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds.
Think big anyway.
People favour underdogs but follow only top dogs.
Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
People really need help but may attack you if you do help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you have anyway.
