‘When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark,
when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having,
just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road,
without thought on anything but the ride you are taking.’ – Arthur Conan Doyle
We love our handles. The sun on your back. The breeze on your face. Cycling down the road blowing off the cobwebs and each turn of the wheels carrying you a bit closer to peace or hope or happiness. Rediscover your bike and you never know how it could change your life.
‘I thought of that while riding my bicycle’ said Albert Einstein about discovering the Theory of Relativity.
Cycling highlights from trips to Scotland and The Isle of Man. Click on the images to enlarge – I’m the speck on the left in the second picture!
Are you plannig to bike from Scotland to Gloucester?
All your assorted interests would create so many diversions on the way you might miss the timing for planting your taters and things.
Ahhh, few things match the feeling of freewheeling with the wind in your face and the scenery whizzing by. You capture it perfectly. x
lovely post nic, wish I were there!
Looks fabulous! Gonna pop in and give the terrible threesome a cuddle today 😀
now if only I could swap my love handles for these – find it hard to just ride away these days with a little one at home but always love it when I can
Rufus – phew, that would be quite a journey! We clocked up 1300 miles by car but only about 25 on the bikes. A lovely trail along the old railway route into Aberdeen if you ever find yourself up that way.
Anita – must have picked up a tip or two about writing from a very dear friend of mine ;o)
Kirsten – so do I know I’m back home!
Lucy – thanks for the chuckie cuddles surrogate cat mum. They were pleased to see us when we got back and looked very well cared for x
Johanna – a trailer for Sylvia maybe. Friends who’ve tried them delight in the freedom it offers and little ones towed around behind a bike seem to sing songs for most of the journey!
My bike hasn’t seen the light of day for a long time, what with being pregnant during the spring and summer and autumn months last year, then this year having a baby. I wonder how old he will be before I get out on my bike again. Used to enjoy going out for a spin early in the morning before work in good weather. It was a nice start to the day.
And yeah, love handles! I have those now!
We love bike trips. What a lovely post.
