Derek’s plot runs alongside ours and next year I’m going to shamelessly copy whatever he does so that I get bowls full of peas like this too.
I’ve picked up lots of helpful tips from Derek and my favourite is to use plastic coated wire instead of twine for anything that needs securing; runner bean poles, tomato plant supports, netted cages for brassicas and peas. Brilliantly simple to use, easy to move as plants grown and a quick un-twist to take down. If you’ve ever had to dismantle canes or netting tied with string you’ll know exactly what I mean.
Derek also has a lovely little shed which is like a tardis judging by how many tools he manages to spring from it.
