musical interlude

2000 Trees_Big Blue Sun_Dan singing*

George, my husband, and his best mate Dan are in a band called Big Blue Sun and they opened the Leaf Lounge at the 2000 Trees festival on Friday.  Dan writes songs inspired by ordinary human experiences, love and life in Gloucester and never misses a note even when he’s feeling under the weather or full of cold.  I love the stories the lyrics weave and find their music moving.  I admit I’m biased (lovely music is inevitable from such a lovely bunch of people surely?).  The programme promised if you love The Beatles and Bob Dylan you’d love Big Blue Sun’s quirky folk tunes and hauntingly slow melodies that seem to somehow drift along with the breeze.  Don’t believe me though, decide for yourself… grab a cuppa and watch the short video below or stream their album using the Big Blue Sun link above while you carry on doing what you’re doing.

  1. Lovely. Lovely, lovely, lovely. Almost as good as being there – well not really, I wish I had been. And to just prove how much I enjoyed this (and the rest of your blog) … I burnt my tea while reading and watching!

(Top tiperooni … burnt saucepan … add washing powder and simmer gently. Burnt food lifts off miraculously.)

  2. is it any consolation to know that I often do that too? especially rice and burning the steamer pan (which thankfully leaves the food intact if not a little smoked). thanks for the cleaning up tip :o)
