During the last few weeks I’ve been going to the allotment first thing in the morning before it gets too hot. 8 o’clock seems pretty early to most people but every time I’ve been one of our near neighbours Bob is already several hours into his digging and manure spreading. He had a hip operation in February and is now tackling foot high weeds on 3 plots. Yes 3! I’ve never yet seen him stop for a break and I’m not very good at that either when I’m there on my own. This tea area looks quite different on a saturday morning when George and I eagerly smile ‘oh, go on then’ to the offer of tea and biscuits from Pat and Robin.
